Let me tell you a little more about myself and why I believe I'm qualified to edit your manuscript.  

 

Professionally, I've been a medical transcriptionist since October 2000.  That's a lot of years behind a keyboard typing, editing, correcting grammar, and punctuating on the fly.  In order to be a good transcriptionist, you have to have an eye for detail, and I'd like to apply the skills I've spent years honing to your manuscript.  As a transcriptionist, you must read and assimilate information quickly, especially when you are paid for production rather than hourly.  Additionally, I've written and published two full-length novels and one short story, and continue to grow as a novelist as I write more.  

 

Educationally, I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology, and in order to be a good scientist, you have to be a good writer.  

 

While these skills may seem to be very specialized to the medical or scientific community, I promise they will carry over to your manuscript.  At this time, I'm offering various types of editing services.  I will read your manuscript cover to cover twice.  I plan a turn around time of three to four weeks to ensure that I can give your manuscript the time and attention it deserves.  In order to make sure we're a good fit, I'll edit the first five pages of your manuscript free of charge.  

 

RATES

 

 

Developmental editing:    

For this type of editing, I'll focus solely on the story (no syntax editing).  I'll read it cover to cover twice looking for plot holes, characterization issues, pacing, etc.  I'll send you an email with any issues I found and suggestions for how it might be corrected.  My rate for this type of editing is $0.006 per word.  

 

Syntax (or line editing) only:  

For syntax editing, I'll go through your manuscript with my proverbial red pen (I use the Track Changes function in MS Word).  I'll read it through twice looking for grammatical, punctuation, and typographical errors.  My rate for syntax editing is $0.0075 per word.  

 

Syntax Plus:  

For syntax plus editing, in addition to syntax editing, I'll give you a light critique of your novel, mostly through the comment function of MS Word.  My rate for syntax plus is $0.011 per word.  

 

The Whole Enchilada:  

The Whole Enchilada includes both syntax and developmental editing.  Again, I'll read your manuscript twice, once for syntax and again for developmental edits.  My rate for this level of editing is $0.014 per word.
